How can I test my XML file to see if it is correctly formatted?

There is an XML test tool available on the Provider Only page that will test the formatting of an XML file.  This test tool will not submit data from your XML file to the actual database.  This test does not audit the data in your file for correctness -- it only checks the formatting.

See the XML Upload Test Area link on the Providers Only page, accessed when you log in with valid Provider credentials.  Be sure to read the instructions for using the XML Test Area, which are also available on the Providers Only page.

After using the free format tests, you may also submit your XML file to the Audit Test Tool.  This tool checks the data in your file using the same criteris CECBEMS uses to audit the data you submit.  If you submit invalid data, in addition to the regular submission fee you will be charged a penalty of $.75 for each invalid course completion record and will be required to correct that record.  The Audit Test Tool will find problems before you submit your file, allowing you to correct the problems before submission (avoiding the penalty fees).  There is a $50 charge per XML file to use the Audit Test Tool.
